# Second Proposal

After a proposal is disputed, another proposal can be submitted. The second proposal follows the same process and timeline as the first.

A market can therefore have two proposals moving through the resolution process at the same time. The second proposal may resolve the market while the first proposal is still being disputed or voted on. 

Once the market has resolved, the outcome of the first proposal or its vote no longer affects the market's resolution.

Second proposals are often submitted after something has changed since the first proposal. Otherwise, they may be disputed for the same reason.

### If the Second Proposal Goes Unchallenged

If the second proposal goes unchallenged, the market resolves. If nothing material has changed between the two proposals, the vote for the first proposal will often follow the second proposal's outcome.&#x20;

It is possible that the first proposal was too early while the second proposal was on time. In that case, the second proposal resolves the market, while the dispute vote may determine that the first proposal was too early.

### If the Second Proposal Is Challenged

If the second proposal is disputed, it will go through its own discussion and separate vote, which may occur in the same voting cycle as the first dispute or in the following cycle. The market will then resolve according to the outcome of the second dispute.&#x20;

If nothing material has changed between the two proposals, the second dispute will often reach the same result as the first dispute.&#x20;
