After an outcome has been finalized, the market may be ready to resolve.

A finalized outcome does not always mean the market resolves immediately. If the market's resolution conditions have not yet been met, it may remain open.

What happens after the outcome is finalized?

The finalized outcome is written onto the blockchain.

Example: Super Bowl Champion 2026 (Buffalo Bills) – No is written onto the blockchain.

How does the market resolve?

Once the finalized outcome is written onto the blockchain, Polymarket resolves the market accordingly.

Example: Once Super Bowl Champion 2026 (Buffalo Bills) – No is written onto the blockchain, the Buffalo Bills market resolves to No.

How are payouts made?

Once the market is resolved, traders are paid out based on the final outcome.

Example: For Super Bowl Champion 2026 (Buffalo Bills), shareholders of Yes receive $0 per share, and shareholders of No receive $1 per share.
