# Awards

Awards markets resolve based on who or what receives a specified award or honor. These can include entertainment awards, cultural honors, and international prizes.

### How do they work?

Awards markets define the conditions that determine which award outcomes count.

Conditions can include:

* **Award**\
  *Example*: Academy Awards.
* **Category**\
  *Example*: Best Picture.
* **Contender**\
  *Example*: Listed film.
* **Award year**\
  *Example*: 2026.

### Resolution Sources

Common resolution sources for awards markets include:

* **Official award bodies**, such as AMPAS and the Recording Academy
* **Live ceremony broadcasts**
* **Official publications**, such as TIME magazine
* **Consensus of credible reporting**

Always check the **market's listed source** — it can affect how the market will resolve.

### What should I be aware of?

* **Nominations** can cause non-nominated contenders to resolve to No before the ceremony.
* **Ties or joint winners** may have specific tiebreaker rules.
* **Recipient definitions** can determine whether individuals, groups, or other entities qualify.
* **Announcement deadlines** can determine how a market resolves if no winner is declared.

### Examples

**Resolution Criteria:** The listed film wins Best Picture at the 98th Academy Awards.

**Resolution Source:** Official information from the Academy Awards and AMPAS, including the official website and live broadcast, and a consensus of credible reporting

**Additional Rules:** If a film is not officially nominated for Best Picture, it resolves to No. If there is a tie, the nominated film whose listed name comes first alphabetically wins. If no winner is declared by June 30, 2026, the market resolves to Other.

**Resolution Criteria:** The listed album wins Album of the Year at the 68th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

**Resolution Source:** GRAMMY Awards broadcast, GRAMMY website, and other credible reporting

**Additional Rules:** If there is a tie, the listed album whose name comes first alphabetically wins. If no winner is declared by June 30, 2026, the same alphabetical rule applies.

**Resolution Criteria:** The listed individual or entity wins the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

**Resolution Source:** First official announcement from the Norwegian Nobel Committee

**Additional Rules:** If the prize is jointly awarded, the market resolves to a single winner. Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Benjamin Netanyahu, Vladimir Putin, and Elon Musk take precedence in that order if any are among the recipients. Otherwise, an individual takes precedence over an organization in a mixed award, and recipients of the same type are resolved alphabetically. If no official announcement is made by March 31, 2027, the market resolves to Other.

**Resolution Criteria:** The listed person, group, entity, or thing is named TIME Person of the Year for 2026.

**Resolution Source:** TIME magazine's Person of the Year cover or covers; the accompanying feature article may also be used

**Additional Rules:** Multiple people explicitly named Person of the Year can each qualify. A person associated with a winning concept, group, or thing may also qualify if they are pictured on an official Person of the Year cover. Listed concepts, groups, entities, or things qualify only when they match or can reasonably be understood as equivalent to TIME's designation. The feature article may be used to interpret broader or non-specific designations. If Person of the Year is not announced by June 30, 2027, the market resolves to No.
